Among our many successful projects, the team at Project6 Design has worked with clients to help them build a brand and online presence starting from the ground up. One such project was Presido Classics, which was a newly formed startup that offers design professionals a trusted source for affordable and fair-trade, luxurious natural fiber window treatments and rugs.
Our tasks involved helping Presido Classics create a customer experience that would effectively communicate the exceptional value of the sustainable sourced luxury home textiles. We were also charged with developing a brand strategy that would easily scale as the company grew. In addition we had to build a fully customized ordering process that offered the ability to adjust costs at will. As most of our projects begin, we started by researching other similar luxury and environmentally conscious brands to get an idea of not only the products but what customers were looking for. Our team did an in-depth analysis of the desired user experience as well as created a storyboard that was used to develop a wireframe structure for maximum visual impact and to support the many needed customization options. By using Drupal commerce to build a custom ecommerce system, we gave Presidio Classics a responsive website that is as conducive to content management tasks as to search engines. Once you take a look at the finished product, we are sure you will agree that the site is not only visually appealing with its clean sans-serif logotype, neutral palette, and open page layout but it is also extremely user friendly. However the benchmark for success from Presido Classics was that we created an ecommerce site that allowed for complete pricing flexibility as well as seamless customization. The Project6 Design team was pleased to hear we won a 2016 Davey Award for the overhaul and redesign of a website for the luxury home automation company, ELAN. Sponsored by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), the awards recognize the best creative work from among small agencies, firms and companies across the globe. This year’s winners were selected from almost 4,000 entries.
The AIVA, a 700 plus member organization made up of leading professions from within a variety of disciplines in the visual arts, judges and oversees the Davey Awards. The organization is committed to embracing progress and recognizing the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Project6 Design’s recent overhaul of ELAN’s website resulted in a clean, visually appealing site that is easy-to-navigate, update and maintain. In fact the new website design better complements the company’s goal of simplifying and enhancing a connected home. ELAN’s business model involves creating private network hubs for their customers that seamlessly combine music, TV, climate, lighting and other home systems with an easy-to-use interface that puts the user in control whether at home or away. An ELAN system allows users to see, hear, and respond to visitors while sitting on the couch, in their car or out of the country. ELAN is an award-winning company in their own right as the newly introduced ELAN 8 was recognized at CES 2017 with the “2017 Human Interface Product of the Year” award from the Consumer Technology Association’s Mark of Excellence Award Program Committee. Offering enhanced interface, powerful new user managed features and voice control through Amazon Alexa, the new software eliminates the need for multiple apps and control switches as everything can be easily controlled through the intuitive ELAN system. Our clients include many household names such as Old Navy, Gap, Goodwill, Pottery Barn, John Muir Health, Stanford, and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
However do not just rely on our word that we have many satisfied customers but rather read some honest reviews from actual clients. As one San Francisco client explains, “The team is so easy to work with. They have a wide range of experience and such a great eye for design. I love their work.” Another happy customer writes that the “Project6 team was wonderful to work with!! They completely redid our academic department website.” They go on to say, “They gave us a very fair price, brought us along in the creation process, and pushed us towards a more current-looking site. Most importantly, they built a site that is really easy to work within.” Still another client relates how we simplified the enormous task of redesigning their website and marketing materials “with creativity, responsiveness, and detailed project coordination.” These reviews are reflective of our goals each time we commit to a project. We are pleased to announce the launch of our latest website redesign project, the Center for the Art of Translation. The organization’s mission is to find new, overlooked and underrepresent voices, brought into English by the best translators and to celebrate the art of translations. The nonprofit organization is based in San Francisco and was founded in 2000 by Olivia Sears, an Italian translator.
Project6 Design’s task was to take two disjointed and somewhat ineffective websites (both CAT entities) and to build a consistently branded ecommerce site. Our job involved creating an efficient, intuitive way to allow the Center to weave together the works of thousands of writers, translators, editors, and other contributors. They also wanted to highlight the work of the translators, to build an audience for literature in translation, and to honor cultural diversity throughout the world. Once you take a look at the new website, you will discover a visually appealing site that is easy to navigate as well as to narrow down your area of interest. It was also designed to make it easy to update monthly events and to sort through their large offering of workshops, conferences, lectures, and other news. Furthermore, the redesigned site includes updated biographies of at least 1,100 authors and translators who were published in the literary translation journal, Two Lines: World Writing in Translation over a 20 year period. At Project6 Design we have a lot of experience in helping new companies to build comprehensive identities. Working closely with each client, we begin the process by creating a name and brand identity, along with print materials and a new, customized website.
Our team understands how design plays a pivotal role in a corporation’s image, and we will use it to help enhance customer experiences. While no one can control a person’s perception of your brand, our professional services will help influence it by communicating the right messages about your products and services in a clear and consistent manner. One such comprehensive project we did a few years ago was for a new solar startup. Silevo is a solar cell innovator and photovoltaic (PV) solar module manufacturer that has advanced the use of silicon for solar in order to offer cost-effective high-performance solar modules. Our team was tasked with helping Silevo rebrand themselves from their former identity of Sierra Solar Power as they moved out of corporate stealth mode to introduce their innovative cell product in a highly competitive solar marketplace. We first went to work to help them rename the company and to create clear messaging about the brand. This was accomplished through a series of interviews with customers and management. Our next job was to create a new logo for the company as well as a complete corporate identity that included marketing collateral and a new website. We used a content management system that allowed the Silevo team to easily update their content. As a result of their great product along with lots of careful planning by the entire team, the company quickly received rave reviews. Within three years, they were acquired by Solar City. To remain competitive and to ensure you are reaching all of your potential customers, your business should have a responsive website that works across any device. Responsive designed sites automatically make the necessary adjustments to provide users with an optimal experience whether they visit your site on a widescreen desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.
Some of the changes that occur when you build a responsive site include pairing down and resizing the text and images designed to fill a large desktop screen to that of a much smaller sized screen found on a mobile device. In some cases superfluous images may not appear on a mobile device if they are in danger of competing with the necessary information that needs to be a part of the smaller display. A responsive website design is flexible enough to fit into any screen resolution and will automatically share all of your information across any device. By integrating touch screen functions used on tablets and mobile phones and various screen sizes and pixel resolution, your website is able to detect the device orientation. Furthermore, if your business is interested in driving relevant organic searches to your site using SEO, Google favors a mobile responsive site. At Project6 Design our web and design services can help you to develop highly-usable interfaces that attract and keep customers. Our team will create navigational structures that are easy and intuitive and allow your visitors to find what they want in a fast and logical way no matter what device they are on. Project6 Design is especially proud of the work we have done for the healthcare industry and non-profit organizations. One example is the new website we designed for the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC) that was completed early last year. The organization’s goal is to improve the health of pregnant women and newborns by making sure that approaches to illness that have been demonstrated to be effective are implemented.
This important mission is led by a group of public and private leaders in healthcare who have joined forces to improve the quality of care and outcomes for California’s pregnant mothers and newborns. By offering health care providers and academic researchers a place to access such a rich, diverse database, it helps to promote premium patient care as well as efficiencies in resource allocation and use. The program includes 137 member hospitals, and represents over 90% of neonatal intensive care provided in California, so as you can imagine the wealth of information that must be organized and made available to share. Project6’s task involved helping CPQCC to modernize their outdated website that was not only difficult for users to navigate and find what they needed, but did not adequately reflect CPQCC’s position as a leading professional organization. We also updated the design of the website so now it conveys a consistent brand identity, including logo, fonts, and color palette. We built the website using the Drupal content management system to ensure the site’s administrators can easily update content and images. In addition CPQCC’s new website is fully responsive across all devices and is designed to address the needs of the organization’s numerous programs as well as the needs of its members. One recent project we were proud to be a part of was helping the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation (DRK), a global venture philanthropy firm, to design and development a more effective website. The foundation supports early stage, high impact social enterprises that are working on some of society’s most difficult problems with the goal of making the world a better place.
The task for the team at Project6 was to help DRK expand their reach and unequivocally communicate the foundation’s powerful mission of supporting individuals who wish to change the world. Before we came on board, their website was only designed for desktops, and was difficult to navigate in some areas. However, most importantly it did not highlight the incredible stories of entrepreneurs and organizations that had benefited from the foundation. The old website also under-utilized DRK’s fantastic photography assets. Working together with the foundation members, we helped to develop a site that matched the tone of the inspiring work and was also easy to manage. The project included designing a longer page scrolling experience across the site to showcase the various organizations as well as breaking news. Our team developed a simplified and streamlined architecture that created a single, unified portfolio section that allows visitors to browse through the people and organizations associated with the foundation. Another area we developed was the “community section” where alumni and entrepreneurs offer encouragement and share newsworthy events and resources. Built on the WordPress platform, the new website is easy for the DRK staff to maintain and grow. In addition the site works seamlessly across all devices and is now reachable to a wider audience.
